Enlightenments
- Developing sensory skills: Wine evaluation involves the use of the senses, particularly taste and smell. Participants develop their sensory skills and learn to recognize and identify different flavors and aromas.
- Precise communication: Participants must learn to express their perceptions clearly and precisely. This can promote effective communication within the team, emphasizing the importance of conveying information in an understandable way.
- Collective decision-making: When evaluating a wine, team members may be called upon to make collective decisions about the wine’s characteristics, origin, etc. This encourages group decision-making and appreciation of each member’s contribution.
- Diverse perspectives: Each person has a unique experience and different taste preferences. The wine assessment can highlight the diversity of perspectives within the team, teaching respect and appreciation of differences.
- Dealing with criticism: When evaluating wine, participants may be confronted with differing opinions. This can teach how to handle criticism constructively, with the emphasis on learning and continuous improvement.
How it works
- Welcome of participants
- 30-minute introductory tasting of a fine wine by an expert guide
- Participants are divided into small groups to taste 3 new wines and become sommeliers by qualifying each of these 3 wines: assessing aging potential, defining food/wine pairings…
- Team grading by the host according to predefined criteria
- Closing remarks by the host
